The Arctic Jungle Fashion Gala, which took place in late September in New York City, raised over $12,000 for the rehabilitation of victims of mass rape and sexual assault in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The funds will be transferred securely through Norwegian Church Aid.

Among those who took part in this ‘Haute couture’ event at La Pomme were Finnish supermodel Angelika Kallio and top model Rosa Korhonen . Kallio led the live auction of frocks by designers such as Nicole Miller, Anna Sui and IVANAhelsinki.

TV-presenter Annabella Åsvik served as the master of ceremonies and welcomed everyone to the event dressed in a Stella McCartney dress. Åsvik told the audience the fashion fundraiser was meant to show that “we can be beautiful from both inside and out,” according to the Finland Center Foundation blog. The event was arranged by the Finland Center Foundation(FCF), a meeting point of Finnish and American culture, commerce and community. FCF supports the activities of Finnish-American organizations in the greater New York area, and Finnish values globally.
