Influence from Russian folklore combined with Indian accents in the A/W collection of the Indiska department store chain, which was presented in a runway show Thursday at the House of Culture (Kurturhuset) in the Swedish capital.
Various sorts of woolen knits were matched with luxurious materials like silk, velour and chiffon in the colorful collection called “Bohemian Modern.” The traditional paisley patterns one associates with Indian design were in evidence, together with Russian flowers. We liked the long stockings in intricate patterns.
Compliments to casting director Marcus Pettersson for the choice of models including some from different ethnic backgrounds; we also liked the fact that some of the girls smiled, a rarity at many snobby shows.
